Tonya Ward joins the lab!

Tonya Ward received her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Dr. Illimar Altosaar. Her doctoral research included a metagenomic analysis of the microbiome of human milk through next generation sequencing (Ward et al. 2013. BMC Microbiology), as well as in vivo analyses of the fate and function of human milk immune components using animal models (Ward et al. 2013. Pediatric Research; Ward et al. 2013. Immunobiology).

Dr. Dan Knights is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Biotechnology Institute at the University of Minnesota. The Knights lab models host-microbiome interactions in human disease, with labs in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Knights is a PI with the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute.
