Hu is pursuing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics and Computational Biology (BICB) and is currently a graduate fellow of BICB program. Hu’s research includes developing novel bioinformatics tools for modeling multi-omics studies of host-associated microbiomes. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Jiangsu University (Jiangsu, China), in 2007 and 2011, respectively. His past research interests were signal processing, pattern recognition and their application on biomedical problems. He obtained the M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2013 from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA), where his study mainly focused on machine learning and medical image analysis.
